When homeowners want a flooring solution that's both beautiful and built to last, combining decorative epoxy flooring with polished concrete is an excellent choice. We recently completed a 1,777-square-foot residential flooring project in Denver, NC, featuring both a decorative flake epoxy system and a mechanically polished concrete finish.

The result is a seamless blend of durability, low maintenance, and modern style throughout the home.

Decorative Flake Epoxy Garage Floor – Tidalwave Blend

The garage received our Decorative Flake Epoxy System using the popular Tidalwave flake blend. This system is designed to withstand heavy vehicle traffic, impacts, chemicals, and everyday wear while providing a clean, finished appearance.

Our installation process included:

  • Professional diamond grinding of the concrete surface to create the proper profile for maximum adhesion.
  • Application of an industrial-grade epoxy basecoat.
  • Full broadcast of the Tidalwave decorative vinyl flake blend, creating a uniform, textured finish with added slip resistance.
  • Sealing the floor with a UV-stable, chemical- and abrasion-resistant polyaspartic topcoat for superior long-term protection.

The finished garage floor is resistant to oil, fuel, water, road salts, and household chemicals while remaining incredibly easy to clean and maintain.

400-Grit Polished Concrete Floors

For the interior living spaces, we installed a 400-grit satin polished concrete floor with a beautiful Mocha finish. Polished concrete is becoming increasingly popular among homeowners looking for a modern flooring option that combines elegance with exceptional durability.

Our polishing process included:

  • Thorough surface cleaning and preparation.
  • Minor concrete patching where needed.
  • Progressive grinding with multiple diamond grits up to a 400-grit satin finish.
  • Application of a premium concrete densifier to strengthen and harden the slab.
  • Protective guard application.
  • Final burnishing and detailed cleanup.

The result is a smooth, satin sheen that reflects natural light while offering excellent resistance to wear and minimal maintenance requirements.

Why Combine Epoxy and Polished Concrete?

This project demonstrates how different concrete flooring systems can complement each other throughout a home.

The decorative epoxy system provides the ideal solution for garages and utility areas where chemical resistance and impact protection are essential. Meanwhile, polished concrete offers an attractive, dust-free flooring option for interior spaces that delivers long-lasting performance without the maintenance requirements of many traditional flooring materials.

Together, these systems create a cohesive, durable flooring package that will continue looking great for years.
